This week, MentorMob was selected from a pool of nearly four hundred companies as a particularly promising Up-and-Comer at this year’s Chicago Innovation Awards!
Hosted at the Harris Theater at Millennium Park, the 11th annual Innovation Awards featured a knockout performance by Chicago’s own genre-bending dance troupe FootworKINGz, speeches by both Governor Pat Quinn and Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and ongoing commentary by comedy duo & Innovation Awards founders Tom Kuczmarski and Dan Miller.
Dressed to kill in all black and Bucketfeet, the MentorMob team did not actually know they had been specially singled out until co-founder Vince Leung was called on stage to accept the Up-and-Comer Award, which made for, as you might expect, an electrifying evening.
So what this award mean?
It means that MentorMob’s immediate dream of a more friendly, accurate web, and its long term goal of providing unprecedented access to a top quality education for every person, regardless of socioeconomic standing, has caught the attention of Chicago’s thought leaders and business builders.
In other words, winning an Up-and-Comer Award is a pat on the back for doing good work, and a kick in the butt to accomplish everything we’ve set out to do.
