MentorMob hosted the opening reception for the Flipped Learning Conference in Chicago this week, which brought innovative teachers together though a shared love of  teaching with tech, life long learning, and the universal appeal of a cold beer on a hot day.

Educators enjoy some refreshments at Catapult Chicago’s downtown offices.

Conference goers got the chance to relax, have a bite to eat, and meet dozens of education and edtech professionals in person that they typically only communicate with through tweets and retweets.

MentorMob cofounders Kris Chinosorn and Vince Leung took the opportunity to unveil MentorMob U, an inexpensive service for educational institutions that gives teachers and administrators added features like privacy settings, engagement analytics, and tools for assessment.

Over two hundred teachers attended the opening ceremonies and then went on to complete the rest of the conference’s programming over the next few days at Tribeca Flashpoint Academy, Chicago’s premier digital media arts college. In fact, teachers were so excited and diligent about communicating that excitement that #flipcon12 was trending on Twitter!

A huge thank you goes out to our sponsors at Lucano’s Pizza, The Bazaar, Catapult Chicago, and of course to Kari Arfstrom, Helen Lazzaro, Jon Bergmann, Aaron Sams, Marisa Kaplan, and all of the teachers working this week and every week to flip their classrooms into the 21st century.

Take a look at all the flipping action by searching Twitter for #flipcon12, and we look forward to seeing many of our new edtech friends again at ISTE 2012 this coming week!
